Your site is well constructed and a bold showcase of how you transmute dark energy into creativity. I'm mostly intreged by people's creativity, and not so much with their shifting "feelings."

Recent studies in Cognitive Psycology, and Cognitive Linguists, scrutize "how one thinks" as expressed through their art and writings. Studies in this field are on the internet. How an artist organizes his work is crucial, just as how one organizes Stories when they're recounting experiences is crucial in mental health. You have highly developed organizational skills, hinting at a very healthy cerebral circuitry. By measuring language as an expression of cognition, much can be revealed. Your use of the rules of syntax structure, basic grammar, key verbs, hints that you enjoy what's called "high function" abilities of "abstract thinking."

Having worked with clients in the California Prison System who were diagnosed with a "psycosis" I certainly see no indication in your site of mental neurosis. My "clients" were mostly in prison for one or more murders. and were diagnosed with various "psychoses." Year ago I taught meditation techniques to help inmates control their moods and thoughts, and recent scientific studies with brain scans suggest this is helpful to those diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and other common cognitive abnomalies. The right combination of pharmesuticals, meditation, diet and exercise usually helps those who are suffering from "mood disorders." In my twenties I suffered "Anxiety Disorder" and some "Panic Attacks" but as one grows older these generally get milder. Ten percent of the population is said to have some sort of problem with anxiety. Fortunately my episodes were short (about twenty minutes) and could be blocked by such neuro inhibitors as Buspar etc. I was briefly depressed at 22, but it was "Episodic Depression" from the terrible things that were happening all over.

However that time in my life certainly inspired my art and writing, and helped build my career. Long term Depression is a terrible condition, but I'm not sure if that afflicts you. Your site doesnt reveal anything that might hint that you have anything less than 135 ("Gifted IQ"), nor that you suffered abuse or emotional trauma before age six. Much of what your art and writings reveal are called "garden variety neurosis" that many "hyper creative" people exhibit.

After graduating in Art History from the University Of California at age 21 in 1967 (later MA in Art Technology) I found myseld in the middle of a counterculture whirlpool in Berkeley and the Haight Ashbury. Whatever angst I had was transmuted into my covers for underground papers, some 24 posters, and a dozen underground comics, and several books. Later I taught at Hartnell College (with classes inside Soledad Prison) and throughout the Eightys I taught screenwriting and film production at Monterey Penninsula College. I also worked for a local film production company here.In the nineties I went back to my art and journalism, but these past few years I've been teaching troubled teens how to better channel their angst into creativity. Samples of my art from the Sixties can be seen at artopea.com My son is also highly creative, and has "grown up Goth", and is an amzing guitarist at 27. My ten year old daughter is also quite precocious and musically gifted.

I mention these things about myself so that you can understand a little of why I am amazed at the talents that are showcased on your web site. It reflects how artists can delve into rather noir creativity and not be, as they say, "fucked up." Cognitive Therapists study "disclosures" their patients make, not so much about what they say about their emotions, but HOW they use language to express whats going on in their brain. When Trent Reznor was living in Big Sur, he was a friend of one of my friends. How he uses language reveals his brilliant mind and creativity, no matter what emotional colors the words might at first appear to reflect. he certainly doesnt talk like he's "messed up" and neither do you. However you seem to enjoy a deep and rather broad "emotional pallet" that appreciates dark values as well as rainbow hues at times.
